Raymond J. Siebert

Died: Saturday, January 11, 2014

Age: 85

Raymond J. Siebert, 85, died Jan. 11 at de Greeff Hospice House.

Mr. Siebert was born in St. Louis and resided in Concord. He operated Siebert Pet Shop in south county for more than 25 years with his parents.

In later years, Mr. Siebert individually operated Aquariums by Siebert in the same location, selling tropical fish and hobby supplies.

His longtime interests were boating, writing, gardening and Southwestern U.S. art, especially American Indian arts and crafts.

Growing flowers was his passion. He was a longtime member/friend of the Missouri Botanical Garden — his favorite place — and a past member of the Missouri Horse Shows Association in his early adult years.

Mr. Siebert loved St. Louis history and was a life member of the Sappington-Concord Historical Society. He enjoyed genealogy and researching family history from his German heritage. He was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ in South St. Louis City, where his parents were wed.

Mr. Siebert is survived by his life partner, Fred Jones; longtime special friend, Todd Becker; several cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph A. and Rose E. Monken Siebert.

Committal interment was Jan. 14 in Sunset Memorial Park. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the chapel of Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road. Visitation will be at 2 p.m.
