Audrey Raymond, a pupil at Sperreng Middle School in the Lindbergh School District, recently won a Division Award at the Greater St. Louis Science Fair at Queeney Park.

Audrey attends the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted Student based in the Lindbergh School District.

She currently is a sixth-grader, but entered and won her title as an eighth-grader. She takes eighth-grade science.

Her project was titled: “The Grass Is Always Greener.”

She surveyed 90 lawns in the St. Louis County area to determine which type of lawn grass is most popular.

The Secondary Division — grades six to 12 — of the Greater St. Louis Science Fair had more than 1,550 projects submitted this year.

Of the 343 eighth-grade projects entered, two Division Awards were presented.

Audrey also received special awards from the American Association of University Women, the Science Fair Supply Co. and the St. Louis Aquarium. Her project was nominated for the Discovery Young Scientist Challenge. DYSC is a nationwide program for fifth- through eighth-grade science fair winners. The competition finals will be in October.
