Roxanna West, a senior at Providence Christian Academy, has advanced to finalist standing in the National Mer-it Scholarship Program for 2008.
West has attended the K-12 classical Christian school since fourth grade. Her liberal arts education has included a thorough study of the great books and Latin, Greek and Hebrew.
The National Merit Scholarship program is one of the most prestigious honors for high-school students. Only 15,000 students nationwide are chosen. As a finalist, West will be eligible to win a Merit Scholarship award this spring. This award is a one-time sum of $2,500.
West has been awarded a tuition merit scholarship from Hillsdale College in Michigan, where she will have a double major in philosophy and classical studies.
