Princeton honors Oakville student

It’s not often a high school senior receives a diploma from an Ivy League school.

However, Christopher Muether of Oakville Senior High School is not your average student.

Muether has his sights set on attending Princeton University, a decision he made after spending a month at the prestigious learning institution this past summer, where he picked up a graduating diploma from the Junior Statesmen Program.

Muether, 17, was invited to attend the Junior Statesmen Program at Princeton based on his academic achievement, leadership ability and interest in politics. He was one of only 250 students in the nation invited for the month-long honors program that highlights politics.

As part of the program, Muether helped create and run a legislative body patterned after the U.S. Congress. He took part in student debates about such contemporary political issues as civil liberties, anti-terrorism legislation, education reform and economic policy.

After graduating from Oakville next June, Muether plans to major in political science at either Princeton or Georgetown University. He is the son of Linda and Daniel Muether.
