To the editor:
We, along with many others, are upset at the recent preaching in our churches about political issues, specifically Amendment 2 for stem-cell research.
We come to church to pray and listen to God’s word, not to listen to political opinions on issues. The church is entitled to their opinion, but we don’t appreciate being told it is our “moral obligation” to vote in a certain manner.
We support providing a seminar outside of church for information about these and other issues, and even fliers in church bulletins explaining the amendment, but preaching it from the pulpit is too much.
We feel that the church needs to keep out of politics, and instead, bring the congregation together to praise and honor our Lord.
Who is to say how God wants us to vote?
