‘Phony patronage’ job has reader questioning new county executive

Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

I must congratulate the “Honorable” Councilwoman Hazel Erby for her change of heart in deciding to work with our new county executive, Dr. Sam Page, rather than continue to oppose his appointment.

And all it took was a $100,000 a year raise in her salary and promotion to a position that doesn’t even exist.

Just when you thought the county government had an opportunity for a fresh start with new leadership and new ideas, Dr. Page chose to look backward by silencing his chief critic with a phony patronage job and bringing in former County Executive Charlie Dooley’s appointees to key positions in his office.

Is it too early to ask the Bureau of Prisons to keep an extra bed warm in Steve Stenger’s prison cell?

Sam might be joining him sooner than we thought.
