To the editor:
I can’t believe somebody actually took the time to write a letter to your newspaper urging people to boycott the Academy Awards because her favorite movie — “The Passion of the Christ” — didn’t get nominated for any awards.
Relax, they’re just movies. Anyway, it’s not as if Mel Gibson has been stiffed by the academy — he already has a best director Oscar for a previous film, “Braveheart,” which also won for best movie. Mel Gibson should know Hollywood well enough to know that you can’t follow one R-rated, gory, bloody, violent epic with another R-rated, gory, bloody, violent epic and expect to be rewarded for repeating yourself.
Maybe he should try something different for a change, like making a movie appropriate for family viewing.
