Peace Lutheran Church to sponsor 13th Boar’s Head Christmas Festival

Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road, will present its 13th annual Boar’s Head Christmas Festival in late November and early December.

An elegantly costumed cast of 150, four choirs and period instrumentalists will recreate the 1340s Christmas pageant at Queen’s College in Oxford, England.

The feudal king serves as host of the pageant, which celebrates the birth of Jesus with knights, beefeaters, lords, ladies and jesters.

The Boar’s Head Christmas Festival will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29; Friday, Nov. 30; and Saturday, Dec. 1.

Additional presentations will be offered at 4 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

Doors open at 6:30 for each evening performance and at 3 p.m. for the afternoon performance.

Free tickets, which are necessary for admittance, will be available beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, by calling the church at (314) 892-5610.

Additional information can be found at www.peacelutheranstl.org and clicking on “Boar’s Head Festival.”

A total of 350 Peace Lutheran members from children as young as 4 years old to teens and adults 80 years old and older are needed to put on the pageant, which attracts 1,600 to 1,700 visitors each year. A reception follows each pageant with wassail, homemade cookies and coffee.
