Lindbergh High School ninth-grader Gregory Stewart’s work ethic and positive attitude impressed his physical education teacher Tom Girard so much that he named Stewart the LHS 2010-2011 Physical Education Student of the Year.

“Gregory has been in my classes all year and continues to work hard every day,” stated Girard, who teaches PE, health and aquatics. “He is relentlessly working to improve his physical health with a passion that I’d like to instill in all my students.”

In addition to attending physical education class, Stewart also swims in the morning before school, is actively involved in Special Olympics and learns new lifts in the weight room, according to a school-district news release.

“He has certainly made my job more enjoyable and rewarding,” Girard stated. “In my book, he’s a gold medal student.”
