Patricia A. Killoren (nee) Walling

Died: Sunday, February 15, 2004

Age: 73

Patricia A. Killoren (nee Walling), 73, died of cancer Feb. 15 in Cape Coral, Fla.

She served as the mayor of Crestwood from 1978 to 1995. Mrs. Killoren was the city’s longest-serving mayor and the first woman to be elected mayor in St. Louis County. She served as a Crestwood Ward 1 alderman from 1972 to 1978.

During her tenure as mayor, Mrs. Killoren created Crestwood’s city administrator position and enhanced numerous city efforts, such as the Crestwood Neighborhood Watch, the Watson Road Development Committee and the Crestwood Disabled Citizens Advisory Committee.

She also served as president of the Mayors of the Large Cities in St. Louis County, president of the St. Louis County Municipal League and president of the Missouri Municipal League.

After retiring in Cape Coral in 1995, she was appointed chairman of the Economic Development Commission and served as president of the Republican Women’s Club of Cape Coral.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Christopher Schaeffer; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Jack Petri; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Judy Falast; sisters-in-law, Margaret Killoren and Emma Walling; brother-and sister-in-law, Donald and Wilma Killoren; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Killoren was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Killoren, and brother, Jerry Walling.

A memorial service will be conducted in Crestwood, but had not been scheduled at the Call’s press time.
