Parochial schools would love to have surging student enrollment

To the editor:

As I read yet another article in the Call about Lindbergh Schools and its overcrowded schools and underpaid teachers, I could not help thinking, thank you to the Catholic schools in the district.

If not for schools such as St. Simon, St. Justin, St. Catherine’s and St. Paul’s, I am not sure what Lindbergh would do.

These schools educate approximately 1,000 students that the district does not have to account for in their numbers. This does not even take into account the high school enrollment.

As a graduate and proud parent of children who attended St. Simon, I encourage parents to take a look at this option. I totally understand this is not for everyone.

Be it because of religious beliefs or economical reasons, but these schools employ wonderful teachers and administrators that work at a much lower overall pay rate than many of their public school counterparts.

This is in no way to take away from Lindbergh teachers, but rather bring to light the dedication and belief these Catholic school teachers possess.

The Archdiocese has recently introduced a generous financial aid program funded by people in the Diocese. It is there to assist those who need help to pay for tuition who could otherwise not afford it.

So next time you read another article about Lindbergh not having enough room or not being able to afford to pay teachers enough, please consider one of the parochial schools in the district.

They would love to have the issue of overcrowding.
