Orville “Buzz” Monroe Bess

Died: Sunday, August 16, 2015

A memorial Mass for Orville Monroe “Buzz” Bess will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 Church Road, Arnold.

Mr. Bess, who died Aug. 16, was a U.S. Navy veteran and longtime resident of South St. Louis, where he owned and operated Bess Fence Co. for over 30 years.

He was a former deputy and had served with the Mehlville Fire Protection District. He also was a member of the International Fence Association, the St. Louis Ad Club, Gridiron, an alumni/booster of St. Louis University and a lifetime Billiken fan.

Mr. Bess was the beloved husband of 60 years to Marilyn (nee Pitt); father of James, Michael (Joy), Daniel (Donna) and Robert Bess, Karen (Paul) Adamec and the late Debra (Mark) Mantese; grandfather of Michael, Anthony and Jennifer Mantese, Riley and Miranda Bess, Sydney and Sarah Adamec; and brother of Ethel Mueller.

A luncheon in the lower level of the Par-ish Center will follow the Mass.
