Optimists honor Youth of the Month

The Mehlville Optimist Club recently honored Sarah Miller of Oakville Senior High School as its Youth of the Month. Sarah’s mother, Dana, and brother Will along with Assistant Principal Jim Kern and Senior Counselor Nancy Puricelli were present at the ceremony to share in the award and elaborate on Sarah’s achievements. Last November, Sarah mobilized some 1,000 students, teachers and parents to help raise money for childhood cancer research by shaving her head and encouraging others to do the same. The fundraising event for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation generated more than $11,000. Pictured, from left, are: Youth of the Month Chairman John Roland and Sarah.

    The Mehlville Optimist Club recently honored Lauren Wulle as its Youth of the Month. Lauren is a pupil at the Lindbergh Academy in the Lindbergh School District. One of Lauren’s teachers from the academy was present at the meeting to explain how Lauren was chosen to receive this honor.       The Mehlville Optimist Club recently honored Nichole Reiling as its Youth of the Month. Reiling is a student at Oakville Senior High School in the Mehlville School District. Rocky Streb, assistant principal and senior class principal at Oakville Senior High School, was present at the meeting to explain how Nichole was chosen to receive this honor.         The Mehlville Optimist Club recently honored Jordan Sindelar as its Youth of the Month. Jordan is a student at Bernard Middle School in the Mehlville School District. Jeff Bresler, assistant principal at Bernard Middle and an Optimist club member, was present at the meeting to explain how Jordan was chosen to receive this honor.
