A group of residents that opposes the recently established trash districts in unincorporated St. Louis County will meet next week to organize those efforts.
Citizens in Opposition to Monopoly Trash Districts, or COMTD, has planned a trash rally/meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Bayless Senior High School, 4532 Weber Road.
Group members also encourage residents to voice their opinion about the trash districts at
To receive e-mail updates about the trash issue and other county issues, residents can send e-mails to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
A news release from the group also stated the organization is seeking donations to fund a lawsuit filed Aug. 23 against St. Louis County by two county residents and American Eagle Waste Industries.
That lawsuit alleges that when county officials established trash districts, they did not follow the County Charter, which the plaintiffs believe calls for those districts to be determined by a vote of the people in each of the eight districts.
To distribute information and help with that lawsuit’s expenses, donations can be sent to COMTD at 105 Concord Plaza, Suite 209, St. Louis, MO, 63128.
Those interested in volunteering and distributing flyers to support the group’s efforts are asked to call (314) 544-0298.
