Open house kicks off Autumn Quilt Show

The 2015 Autumn Quilt Show at Fountain View Assisted Living will kick off with an open house slated from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.

The quilt show will continue through Sat-urday, Nov. 7.

The assisted-living community on the Friendship Village Sunset Hills campus will display to the public quilts made by local churchgoers and quilting groups from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and award two prizes of $1,000 and $500 in public voting.

Representatives from eight churches plan to compete in this year’s competition: St. Paul Catholic Church, Fenton; St. Dominic Savio, Affton; St. Matthias the Apostle, Lemay; St. Simon the Apostle, Green Park; St. Anthony of Padua, High Ridge; Our Lady of Providence, Crestwood; St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Oakville; and St. Justin Martyr, Sunset Hills.

Normally an annual event, the quilt show and contest did not take place last year because of staffing changes at the community, according to Nicole Summers, residency counselor.
