Oldies concert series will include Velvet and Satin, Sh-Boom

The Oldies by the River concert series will start with a special appearance by Vel-vet and Satin from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in the Veterans’ Memorial Amphi-theater at Jefferson Barracks Park.

Gates will open at 7 p.m.

This St. Louis band features all the great Motown and R B sounds of the 1960s and more. Velvet and Satin have been performing for more than 10 years throughout the Midwest .

Velvet is an eight-piece musical band with two male vocalists, while Velvet’s “sister group” Satin is comprised of three female vocalists. Together they make the fabulous Motown tunes come alive, ac-cording to a news release from the St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Admission is $8 for those 12 and older. Children 11 and younger are free. Tickets are available at the gate. Low-cost concessions, free parking and lawn seating will be available.

The next concert will be Sh-Boom Saturday, June 14. The Oldies by the River concerts are sponsored by the county De-partment of Parks and Recreation, Friends of Jefferson Barracks and KLOU Radio.

Proceeds of the concerts will benefit the Friends of Jefferson Barracks and will be used for improvements in the park.
