An Oakville teenager was killed shortly after 11 p.m. Friday when a vehicle he was riding in hit a tree at the intersection of Heintz and Erb roads.

Kenny Khammanivong, 18, of Oakville, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to a news release from the St. Louis County Police Department.

An 18-year-old male driver, who was not identified by police, was also transported to a local hospital and was admitted for injuries from the crash, but police had no update on the driver’s condition or the extent of his injuries.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident, but the county Police Department’s Division of Criminal Identification and its Accident Reconstruction Division are investigating the crash and any causes.

Patrol officers from the South County Precinct responded to the crash shortly after a call from a passerby. A 2002 Mazda B3000 pickup truck left the road and struck a tree.
