Oakville resident Miss Missouri state finalist

Angela Marie Woodson, 18, of Oakville has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Missouri Pageant that will take place Aug. 10 and Aug. 11 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in St. Louis.

Woodson attends St. Louis Community College at Forest Park on an A+ scholarship for radiology. She works at St. Anthony’s Medical Center as a clerk in the diet office and works as a waitress.

She enjoys her position as assistant coach for 16-year-old boys at the Midwest Select Volleyball Club.

The pageant is open to girls ages 16 through 18. The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, bouquet of roses, and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at DisneyLand in California.

The National American Miss pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an “All-American spirit of fun for family and friends.”

Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals.

The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future.
