Oakville High School senior Alexis Twillman, seventh from left, is pictured with the University of Missouri-St. Louis Welcoming Committee after learning she will receive a $100,000 full-ride four-year scholarship.
Oakville High School senior Alexis Twillman thought she was being sent to the library Monday afternoon to pick up some papers.
Instead, representatives of the University of Missouri-St. Louis were there to present her with a $100,000 full-ride four-year scholarship.
The Opportunity Scholars program gives scholarships to students who are not the usual kinds of students in a particular field. For Alexis, she’s in the tech strand of the STL CAPS program and tech/engineering is a male-dominated field.
