Though many may not realize it, the Oakville Senior High School girls’ soccer team currently is riding a seven-game winning streak as of this past weekend.

During that seven-game stretch, the Ti-gers were scored on just once, while racking up an impressive 28 goals.

Oakville (10-3, 5-0 Suburban South) traveled to Seckman on Tuesday of last week for a match that possibly could de-cide who was the conference champion this season.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard with just five minutes left in the first half as senior midfielder Megan Brockman scored on a corner kick.

Junior forward Lisa Pucci gave Oakville a 2-0 final as she scored late in the second half of the game.

“It was really awesome to watch us play,” Oakville Head Coach Dave Robben told the Call. “It was a good game because we were able to pick up where we left off from before spring break.”

The Tigers kept on their hot streak the following afternoon as they traveled to Northwest-House Springs which resulted in a 3-0 win for Oakville.

“In the first half, we possessed the ball quite a bit,” Robben said. “But we ended up scoring all of our goals in the second half.”

Junior forward Cathy Headrick gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the second half of play with junior forward Melanie Meade receiving the assist on the goal.

Freshman Lindsay Goodin had a memorable afternoon as she scored on a penalty kick at the 60 minute mark and then again at the 70 minute mark as senior midfielder Calli Fisher assisted on the goal.

Oakville rounded out the week on Thursday afternoon as the Tigers handed Farmington a 10-0 pounding as seven players scored goals for the Tigers.

Though Robben was quick to praise his troops, he was also impressed with the conditions of the Knight’s home field. Farmington is currently in it’s second season of sponsoring soccer at the high school level.

“It was probably one of the better fields that we’ve played on all season,” Robben said. “Our passing as a team against Farm-ington was excellent. It was a total team effort.”

Freshman midfielder Lisa Kraus along with Brockman and Pucci score two goals each.

Senior midfielder Alison Jones and junior defender Jackie Roepke plus Goodin and Headrick scored a goal apiece.

Oakville will have returned to action this past Tuesday as they participate in the 14th annual Catholic Youth Council Tournament at the St. Louis Soccer Park. Should Oakville win its Tuesday contest against Althoff, the Tigers will play the winner of the Eureka vs. Kirkwood game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

If the Tigers were to lose against Althoff, they will move into the loser bracket and play the loser of the Eureka vs. Kirkwood contest at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The championship game of the tournament will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday.
