John Lennon, portrayed by Adam Roderique, and Elvis Presley, portrayed by Ella Gould, get ready to play their guitars during Oakville Elementary’s Living Museum.

One of the fifth-grade classrooms at Oakville Elementary School recently looked like the stage for a rock ‘n’ roll concert.

“King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” Elvis Presley joined Beatles John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to answer questions and play their favorite songs on guitars.

Actually, pupils portraying these famous musicians did the honors during Oakville Elementary’s two-day Living Museum. Staff, pupils and parents visited all four fifth-grade classrooms to discover many famous people in costume.

Before the Living Museum’s opening, pupils spent one month learning about a famous person, writing a book report and putting together their presentation. Pupils in the four classrooms could choose from the categories of fine arts, science and health, pre-modern history up to 1900 or modern history for their project.

Besides Elvis and the Beatles being featured in the fine arts museum, Amelia Earhart and Sally Ride were in the science and health exhibit. In the pre-modern history exhibit explorers Lewis and Clark, Daniel Boone, Pocahontas and Sacagawea were telling their tales. In the modern history museum it appeared as if a debate was about to take place among former U.S. presidents, including Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

Theresa Ziegler said she chose to portray Sally Ride, the first American woman to go into space, to see what it was like for a female to wear all the gear of an astronaut, according to a district news release.
