Oakville Elementary kindergarten teacher honored by Lindenwood University

An Oakville Elementary School teacher recently earned the Francis and Elizabeth Huss Graduate AWard in Education Administration from Lindenwood University.

Oakville Elementary kindergarten teacher Ann Westbrook was honored with the award during a special ceremony on April 22.

“I was very flattered and honored to receive this award,” Westbrook, who has been teaching in the district for the past nine years, stated in a district news release. “Since I graduated in August with my Ed.S. degree from Lindenwood, I was not expecting to be contacted by them for any reason. It was such a nice surprise, and I was fortunate to meet the benefactors of the award after the ceremony.”

Westbrook, who was named the Mehlville School District’s early childhood director for the 2012-2013 school year, graduated from Lindenwood University in August 2011 with her educational specialist degree in educational administration.

The Francis and Elizabeth Huss Graduate Award in Education Administration is awarded to the graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership and potential as a professional school administrator. Francis Huss, a retired educator, and Elizabeth Huss, a member of the Lindenwood University Board of Directors, are benefactors of this award.
