The Oakville Senior High School Speech and Debate team has completed another successful season under Coach Ed Taylor.
During the District Championships, John Fleming took First Place in Radio Broadcasting while Caitlin Bacott and Andrea Perkins captured First Place in Duet Interpretation. All three Oakville High students now advance to the State Competition scheduled Saturday, April 21, in Columbia.
Bacott and Perkins also qualified to compete in the Nationals Competition scheduled from June 17 to June 22 in Derby, Kan.
Other Oakville team members making a splash at the District Championships were Rachel Ratz, Nick Eplin, Adam Ford and Collin Mlynarek.
Ratz made it to the quarterfinals in the Lincoln-Douglas debate. Eplin took Second Place in his house at Student Congress Districts.
Ford and Mlynarek each took Third Place in their houses and will serve as first and second alternatives at Nationals.
