The Oakville boys varsity swim team brought home a conference title Nov. 5 at Clayton High School, in addition to earning a third-place finish at the Rockwood Summit Invite in October and boasting 10 consideration times for state.

The Tigers were named the Suburban Conference Pool Green champions after beating out multiple local schools including Clayton, Parkway West, Mehlville and Fox.

Several boys also qualified for state.

The following 10 swimmers advanced to state:

Steven Boaz in the 1-meter dive, Doug Poertner in the 100-yard fly, Luke Schmidt in the 200-yard freestyle, Seth Steinbrueck in the 500-yard freestyle, Alex Waller in the 1-meter dive, Mason Zimmermann in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke, the 200-yard medley relay team (Mason, Steven, Doug, Mitch), and the 400-yard freestyle relay team (Doug, Mason, Luke, Seth).

Following the conference win, the team advanced to the state finals, which were held last week at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. Oakville placed 33 out of 36 schools in the Class 1 division.
