To the editor:

I am writing to share exciting news about the Oakville High School Band.

We are proud to announce the band has been invited to participate in the 75th Anniversary D-Day Memorial Day Parade and Musical Salute to the Veterans in Normandy, France, in June 2019.

Students currently in grades 7 through 11 at OHS, Oakville Middle and Bernard Middle are eligible to attend this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The 135 member-band participated in many local marching competitions in the fall of 2017. They had three first-place finishes as well as awards for Outstanding Music, Visual, Percussion and Auxiliary.

Join us for a free concert to showcase these amazing young musicians from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, on the fields of St. Bernadette overlooking Jefferson Barracks at 68 Sherman Ave.

Bring family, friends, your picnic dinner and enjoy an evening of music.
