Nine-hundred students earn diplomas from Mehlville, Oakville high schools

A total of 900 Mehlville School District students received diplomas during commencement programs conducted last week by Mehlville and Oakville senior highs.

Mehlville Senior High graduated 406 students, while Oakville High awarded di-plomas to 494 students.

Two students at Mehlville High attained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and earned valedictorian honors — Erica Blumen-kamp and Lisa Thorne.

Mehlville’s Class of 2003 earned scholarships totaling a four-year value of $1,774,311. Furthermore, 393 of the 406 Mehlville Senior High graduates have in-dicated they will attend college, pursue vocational training or enlist in the military.

Oakville Senior High honored nine students who earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and valedictorian honors — Colleen Garrett, Jill Henzler, David Lar-tonoix, Kristen Loesch, Chelsea Mytyk, Matthew Richardson, Eric Sindelar, Chel-ci Spiegel and Dawn Walker.

Salutatorians, those with the second highest grade-point average at the school, were Lindsay Benedick and Anne Schmitz.

Oakville High’s Class of 2003 earned $2,987,875 in scholarship money.

Mehlville High presented Fien Degreve with a Foreign Exchange Attendance Cer-tificate. Oakville High honored four foreign exchange students — Kim deVogel, Martin Kintscher, Manuel Mahlau and Stina Nordenhall — presenting each with an American flag:.

Andrew Shin, Courtney Rakers and Jeffrey Scott Niemann of Mehlville High along with Sarah Dimaggio and Hollie Stepleton of Oakville High were honored for having achieved perfect attendance for all four years of high school.
