The Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen approved a conditional use permit March 8 allowing Plant Craft Kitchens to open a location in the city.
The restaurant will open at 3860 S. Lindbergh Blvd. — formerly a Jimmy John’s, but currently unoccupied. The petition stated the only changes would be interior design-related.
Plant Craft Kitchens was founded in 2021 as a meal delivery service by Rachel Carr, a St. Louis native and vegan food blogger. Her petition stated she is ready to expand to opening a “casual cafe” featuring soups, salads and other plant-based options. The menu would change seasonally.
The location will feature 18 seats indoors and eight to 10 on the patio. Initial hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday, but may change to seven days a week later down the line.
“It’s something unique to the area, so I think it’s something our residents are going to enjoy,” City Engineer Bryson Baker said.
The Board of Aldermen unanimously voted to approve a first and second reading for the petition at its March 8 meeting.
