New location for “Save the Shore” campaign

A local fundraiser to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy now will take place at South Side Church of God, 12145 Tesson Ferry Road, according to organizer Mike Royster.

Royster, a former East Coast resident who now lives in south county, is working to organize the community in response to Hurricane Sandy and collect essential items for families in need.

For his “Save the Shore” campaign, Royster has set up a 53-foot semi-truck trailer on the church parking lot and is asking the community to help him fill the truck with nonperishable items, toiletries and survival items.

Residents can donate items at the church drop-off location or send cash donations to: Save the Shore, First National Bank of St. Louis, 7707 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis Mo. 63105, Attn: Terri Taylor.

Before moving to Missouri, Royster lived in Rhode Island. He organized a similar effort in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
