NEW: Crestwood Schnucks recalls beef sold Sunday

Schnuck Markets, Inc. has issued a recall on all ground beef sold between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 11, at its store at 9540 Watson Road in Crestwood, according to a news release.

Just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, a meat clerk noticed damage to the grinder which could have resulted in metal shavings in the grind, the release stated. All ground beef was immediately removed from the meat cases; the grinder was repaired, cleaned and sanitized and fresh ground beef was put out for sale. A store representative says that there were approximately 12 packages of ground beef sold in that time period.

Any Crestwood Schnucks customer who purchased ground beef between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday may return the product for a full refund or exchange, the release stated.

This is an isolated incident and no other stores are involved in this recall, according to the release. This is a precautionary measure and there have been no customer reports.
