Midwest BankCentre will consolidate its two Oakville branches into a single bank at 5575 Telegraph Road, effective Sept. 18.

The bank at Telegraph and Baumgartner roads is 1.2 miles north of the branch to be closed at 6121 Telegraph Road. All employees at the former Southern Commercial Bank location will be offered positions at Midwest BankCentre, according to a news release.

The branch to be closed was acquired in April when Midwest BankCentre completed its purchase of Southern Commercial Bank to create one of the region’s top three community banks with assets exceeding $1.6 billion.

“Our bank at 5575 Telegraph Road offers our customers the safety of two signalized intersections for ease of access and the convenience of added mortgage services, comprehensive financial planning and advice, commercial lending and small-business banking services,” Jim Watson, president and chief executive officer, stated in the release. “We are pleased to retain the team that has been serving our customers, and are working immediately to make the transition easy for our customers.”
