MFPD responds to Oakville house fire

By Staff Report

Mehlville Fire Protection District firefighters responded at roughly 5:45 a.m. today — Aug. 30 — to a house fire in the 5700 block of White Pine Drive in Oakville.

Firefighters entering the single-family residence were confronted with a large fire with one of the residents possibly still inside, according to Assistant Chief Dan LaFata. It was quickly determined the resident escaped and was not injured. The fire quickly spread to the attic, according to LaFata.

The fire was put under control in about 1.5 hours. No injuries were reported to the residents or to firefighters. One of the family’s dogs was overcome by smoke and did not survive, the assistant chief said.

District officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
