MFPD firefighters share life-saving information

Mehlville Fire Protection District firefighters recently shared life-saving information with community members at the Home Depot on South Lindbergh Boulevard. Besides MFPD firefighters, volunteers from Energizer and associates with the Home Depot participated in the fire-safety event, then canvassed a neighborhood to distribute free smoke alarms and batteries, donated by Energizer, and reminded residents to adopt the life-saving habit of the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® program, according to a news release. The International Association of Fire Chiefs and Energizer began the program 26 years ago to help save lives by reminding families to replace the batteries in their home’s smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when they change their clocks for daylight saving time. Today, more than 6,400 fire departments across the country participate in this campaign. Children also were able to chat with Mehlville firefighters and participate in a children’s fire-safety workshop.
