Mehlville students earn top honors in architectural contest

Mehlville Senior High School teacher Jim Clark is surrounded by students who see the big picture.

And, they use the skills that he’s taught them in mechanical drawing classes to make sure everyone else sees the big picture, too.

Clark recently had seven students participate in this year’s National Association of Women in Construction architectural draw-ing contest. Each had to draw plans for a brownstone-type house with a mother-in-law wing.

When the judges announced their decisions, Mehlville students captured three top spots. Junior Adam Paulitsch picked up a $300 check for first place, senior Drew Walkenbach earned $200 for his second-place finish and junior Adam Rose won $100 for finishing in third place.

Also participating for Mehlville were senior Aaron Kremer and juniors Aaron Ulrich, Dan Brown and Adam Pyke.

The winning students will be honored this summer at a dinner, where they’ll receive special plaques.
