Mehlville students celebrate Homecoming

Mehlville High students display school spirit during Homecoming Week

From pajamas to green and white garb, Mehlville Senior High School students are showing their spirit during Homecoming Week 2003, which continues through Saturday.

The Mehlville Student Council is encouraging all students to display their school spirit by taking part in the different Spirit Week theme days. Monday was Pajama Day, Tuesday was Western Day and Wednesday was Twin Day. Today — Oct. 2 — is Homecoming Class T-shirt Day and Friday is Green and White Day.

The homecoming varsity boys’ soccer game will take place at 5 p.m. today against Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School. At 7 p.m., the traditional homecoming bonfire will be lit.

On Friday, a pep assembly will be begin at 1:30 p.m. on the football field, while the homecoming parade will take place at 3:30 p.m. The varsity boys’ football team will face Marquette at 7:30 p.m. at Jordan Stadium.

The student body will dance the night away at the homecoming dance beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday in Jones Gymnasium. This year’s theme is “Dancing in the Moonlight.”

Members of the Class of 2003 have nominated their Royal Court for the dance, and all students in attendance at the event will vote for the King and Queen.

The six senior girls nominated for the 2003 Homecoming Queen are: Megan Ess, Gretchan Hearst, Teair Arms, Mandie Ess, Valerie Pappademos and Amanda Pope.

Nominated for the 2003 Homecoming King are: Tim Suntrup, Eric Tripp, Ryan Burke, Rickey Giles, Josh VonderHaar and Grant Williams.
