Mehlville High School students, staff members and community residents recently rolled up their sleeves to give the gift of life during the school’s fall blood drive sponsored by the Student Council.
The blood drive was a success, according to American Red Cross officials, a district news release stated. This year’s blood drive welcomed 33 first-time donors.
A total of 55 pints of blood were donated by students and staff at the drive. An additional 10 students had to be turned away because of high temperatures, low weight, lack of iron or the inability to produce a full pint of blood for donation.
Mehlville Student Council co-sponsors Jane Ebert and Deanne Drew announced that the next blood drive will be in early March.
The Student Council urges all Mehlville residents to make plans to stop by and donate at that time.
Ebert and Drew oversee 76 students in the Mehlville Student Council.
