The Mehlville School District consistently works to provide parents, students and community members with the tools necessary for a successful school year, according to a news release. With the launch of the district’s new website coinciding with the start of the 2011-2012 academic year, the district has vastly improved its ability to effectively communicate with its stakeholders, the release stated.
The district’s website redesign process began more than a year ago with a committee of administrators, teachers, parents and a Board of Education member. Following a period of research and discussion, the committee established a set of requirements which were incorporated into the district’s new website.
Among these capabilities are an exportable calendar, a site search option, user-friendly site navigation and a translation tool.
“We have always taken pride in the diversity of our students and community members in the Mehlville School District,” Superintendent Eric Knost stated in the release. “But with 53 languages spoken as the primary languages in households across the District, providing effective communication can be a challenge. Having the ability to translate our website into more than 60 languages provides us with another method for keeping our students, their families and the entire community informed.”
Visitors to the district’s website will continue to find up-to-date information about the district and its schools, including news, events, contact information and important details about enrollment, transportation and curriculum, according to the release.
Classroom pages for every teacher in the district will be launched later in the 2011-2012 school year.
