Mehlville School District announces new assistant superintendent of curriculum

Tina Plummer, the current principal at Blades Elementary School, will serve as the Mehlville School District’s new assistant superintendent of curriculum, assessment and professional development for the 2012-2013 school year.

The Board of Education voted unanimously during a May 17 closed session to extend a one-year contract to Plummer for the position at at a salary of $116,349.

She has served the district as the principal at Blades Elementary for the past six year.

“We have been incredibly pleased with Dr. Plummer’s performance at Blades Elementary and are excited for her to continue her work as a district-level administrator,” Superintendent Eric Knost stated in a district news release. “Dr. Plummer has a wealth of knowledge regarding curriculum, assessment and professional development, and we are confident her expertise will help us to continue moving our district forward in these critical areas.”

Plummer holds a doctorate of education in teaching and leadership from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in elementary educational administration from Southwest Missouri State University.

Before coming to the Mehlville School District, Plummer served as a principal and assistant principal in the Belton School District in Belton, and as an assistant principal in the Academy School District in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Plummer will replace current Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Connie Hurst-Bayless, who is retiring after 12 years with the Mehlville School District and 36 years in education.
