Mehlville school board picks Lane for administrative position

Brian Lane recently was named executive director of student services by the Mehlville Board of Education.

Lane replaces Cindy Lynch on the Mehlville School District’s administrative team.

Lynch resigned her position as assistant superintendent of student services effective June 30.

The Board of Education voted unanimously during a recent closed session to name Lane executive director of student services at a salary of $100,000. Lane has been an assistant principal at Oakville High School since coming to the Mehlville School District July 1, 2002.

Before that, he was an assistant principal at University City High School from 2000 to 2002. Lane also has held positions as an English teacher at Hixson Middle School in the Webster Groves School District (1998-1999), the Compton-Drew Investigative Learning Center (1997-1998) and the International Studies High School (1995-1996), both in the St. Louis Public Schools system.

He earned his bachelor of science degree in secondary education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he graduated cum laude. He also has a master’s degree in education from St. Louis University and earned a doctorate degree at St. Louis University.

Married for 15 years, Lane and his wife, Amber, have two children: Audrey, 14, and Braeden, 9 months. The Lanes reside in Webster Groves.
