Mehlville panel schedules open forums

The Mehlville School District Long Range Planning Committee has scheduled two open forums to share information with the community about its work in creating a new Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

The forums will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Mehlville Senior High School, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road, and from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Oak-ville Senior High School, 5557 Milburn Road, according to a district news release.

Comprised of three students, 12 parents, two community members, one secretary, three teachers, one director, three principals and one district administrator, the committee already has met four times.

During their meetings, the group has developed a beliefs statement, a new district mission statement, three objectives and 11 strategies to help district administrators set the “big picture” agenda for the future, the release stated.

At the two open forums, planning committee members will share their work and invite all interested community members to volunteer to serve on one of four action teams — academics, technology, facilities or finance.

The action teams will develop action plans to help implement the 11 strategies of the planning committee. Action teams will meet between January and March. Specific dates and times have not been determined.

The Long Range Planning Committee will review and possibly edit the action plans and present them along with the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan to the Board of Education in March or April.

Residents interested in serving on an ac-tion team can contact South Area Super-intendent Keith Klusmeyer at (314) 467-5007.
