Mehlville and Oakville senior high school graduating seniors received their diplomas Sunday during separate ceremonies at the Family Arena in St. Charles.

The ceremony for Oakville High graduates took place in the afternoon with 435 students receiving their diplomas, according to a district news release.

Michael Menkhus was the Oakville class valedictorian and Andrew Oliver was the class salutatorian.

A total of 494 Mehlville High graduates received their diplomas during an evening ceremony, the release stated.

Mehlville officials earlier this year surveyed district parents to see if parents wanted to have the graduation ceremonies at the Family Arena, which would not be affected by weather and could seat many more people, or at the high school their children attended.

Parents overwhelmingly chose the Family Arena, the release stated.
