Mehlville and Oakville senior high schools continue the inner-district battle to see who can collect the most pairs of new socks and underwear for St. Patrick Center clients.
St. Patrick Center provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and dignity to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The winning school will be announced at halftime during the Friday, Oct. 5, Mehlville versus Oakville homecoming football game. This is the third year the rival schools have waged the “Underwear war.”
In 2011, Mehlville and Oakville collected nearly 13,000 pairs of new socks and underwear for St. Patrick Center clients.
The game begins at 7 p.m. at Mehlville Senior High School, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road.
