Mehlville-Oakville Foundation sets Walk-Run

The Mehlville-Oakville Foundation’s annual Walk-Run will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Jefferson Bar-racks Park.

The foundation this year is celebrating its 20th year of sponsoring Walk-Run events to benefit Mehlville School District staff and students.

“The support of our community in events such as the Walk-Run helps fund programs to benefit the children of the district,” Foundation President Deborah Langland stated in a news release. “We greatly appreciate the help of everyone involved.”

The Mehlville-Oakville Foundation was founded to enrich the lives of district students and staff through tutorial programs for at-risk students, mini-grants for innovative teaching, scholarships for high school seniors and special education programs at each school. The Mehlville-Oakville Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and the organization greatly appreciates the community’s continued financial support through tax-deductible donations, according to the release.

Retired Principal Steve Langhorst will serve as master of ceremonies for this year’s Walk-Run, which includes a spirit competition and fun walk or run. Ed Brown, a local radio and advertising personality, will serve as the event’s celebrity master of ceremonies.

Participation in this year’s Walk-Run costs $12 per entrant, which includes a Walk-Run T-shirt designed by Mehlville Senior High School student Bethany Orf and a sponsor-donated bottle of water.
