Mehlville High senior to learn about the business of sports at SLU summer academy

Mehlville High School senior Ethan Wagner will learn about the business of sports this summer when he attends the Sports Business Summer Academy hosted by St. Louis University’s John Cook School of Business from July 11 to July14.

The Sports Business Summer Academy is a program developed to introduce high school juniors and seniors to the business of sports. During the three-and-a-half day program, students will learn basic business concepts related to sports through presentations by faculty and business professionals.

Attendees will visit Busch Stadium and Rams Park, where they will participate in discussions with St. Louis Cardinals and Rams executives. They also will take part in pre-game activities at a Gateway Grizzlies baseball game.

The academy will culminate with a team project in which Wagner and his peers will put into practice the business skills they have learned. Each team will develop a promotional campaign for the SLU men’s basketball team and present their project to a panel of judges.
