Mehlville has been responsible with tax dollars, deserves levy increase

To the editor:

I think it’s worth acknowledging that when neighboring districts are considering cutting down to four days of school per week, largely due to the need to make budgetary cuts, the Mehlville School District is seeking to strengthen its workforce and thereby strengthen the experiences that our students have within our schools.

The Mehlville School District has been a responsible steward of our taxpayer dollars through transparent reporting, keeping its promise to invest in identified areas, and by continually receiving high marks and clean financial audits.

Schools across the state and nation are nearing a tipping point. It is becoming more and more difficult to attract and retain a quality workforce to meet the needs of our students.

I applaud the Mehlville School District for recognizing this challenge and seeking to invest in our schools, not to make cuts that potentially hurt students and families.

I also trust our community to recognize that placing value on our schools positively impacts the value of our community and to vote yes on Prop E.
