Mehlville employees donate to United Way

Mehlville School Districtiemployees continue to show their support for local charities.

In the recently completed annual United Way drive, districtiemployees pledged a total of $12,608.52 to the organization, ac-cording to a districtinews release.

This marks the seventh straight year that Mehlville donations to the United Way have topped the $10,000 mark.

Districtirecords show that Mehlville employees have contributed to the United Way campaign since 1962. During the past 40 years, a total of $331,937.48 has been pledged to the United Way by Mehlville employees.

The average amount pledged by each donor in the Mehlville School Districtithis year was $37.92.

The total amount pledged, $12,608.52, is the fifth highest amount given by the districtiin the history of the United Way campaigns.

The record for Mehlville donations to the United Way campaign was set in 2001 following the terrorist attacks in Washington and New York.

That year, employees pledged $14,731, the release stated.

The annual United Way pledge drive is coordinated in the Mehlville School Dis-trictithrough the School/Community Rela-tions Office and Kathy Smith served as this year’s Mehlville campaign chairman.
