The Mehlville School District announces the promotion of Lori Sullivan to the role of principal at Bernard Middle School and Ann Westbrook to the role of director of Early Childhood for the 2012-2013 school year.

The Board of Education voted unanimously during a March 15 closed session to approve one-year contracts for Sullivan and Westbrook.

Sullivan has served the district for the past 18 years as a communication arts teacher at Margaret Buerkle Middle School and Bernard Middle School and, most recently, as the assistant principal at Bernard Middle School. She has held this position since the 2009-2010 school year.

Sullivan earned master of arts degrees in both education and educational administration, and she holds an educational specialist degree in educational administration.

Westbrook has been teaching kindergarten at Oakville Elementary School for the past nine years and has served as an administrative substitute and intern in the district since 2008. She holds a master of arts degree in elementary educational administration and an educational specialist degree in educational administration.

“Lori and Ann have been strong assets to the district for the past several years,” Superintendent Eric Knost stated in a district news release. “We are confident they will continue to achieve success in their new roles and have the opportunity to make an even greater impact on the students in the Mehlville School District.”

Sullivan will replace current Bernard Middle Principal Phil Milligan, who is retiring after four years in the district and 29 years in education.

Westbrook will fill the position vacated by retiring Early Childhood Director Kathie Fuchs, who has served the district for the past 24 years.
