Melissa Mavers recently graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
She received her bachelor of sciece diploma in immunology and microbiology with minors in chemistry and foreign languages from University of Mi-ami President Donna Shalala.
Upon receiving a full academic scholarship to the St. Louis University Medical School, Mavers returned to the St. Louis area, where she had been awarded the “Missouri Top 100 High School Seniors Award” in 1998.
In June, Mavers began an eight-year study to complete the MD Ph.D. Program in pediatric oncology.
Mavers, who attended Mehlville Sen-ior High School, is the daughter of Vaughn Mavers of Waterloo, Ill., and Peggy Mavers of Oakville.
