‘Ding’ — that is the sound that could be heard floating through the cafeteria at Crestwood Elementary School as the ‘Manners Fairy’ made her annual visit for the school’s Manners Luncheon. Boys and girls dressed up in their finest dresses and slacks. They tucked napkins under their chins as they ate their pizza and orange slices, and took polite sips from their cartons of milk. Each time the Manners Fairy — a close friend of Crestwood counselor Dana Lenzen — saw someone being polite, she visited their table, and ‘Ding,’ gave them a wave of her magic wand. Above, first-grader Nathan wore his finest suit and tie to show good manners.
