Man charged with robbery first degree, armed criminal action

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office recently issued warrants on 17-year-old Mar’Kele Prince, of the 4500 block of Rosewood Avenue, for one count of robbery in the first degree and armed criminal action. Prince currently is being held on a $75,000 bond. This bond amount was combined with the city of Crestwood Police Department in reference to a robbery Prince was also involved with in their venue, according to a news release.

On Friday, May 11, at 8:35am, St. Louis County Police responded to a robbery that occurred on the parking lot of Kmart at 3901 Lemay Ferry Road. A 37-year-old woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint as she was getting out of her parked car.

Four suspects arrived and left in a green Chevy Impala, according to the victim and surveillance. All four suspects were described as black males, ages late teens to early 20s. They also were suspected of similar robberies in Crestwood and Shrewsbury, the release stated.

On Monday, another robbery occurred in Brentwood in which the victim was robbed of her purse at gunpoint. A description of the suspect vehicle involved in the robbery was broadcasted to area police agencies.

A St. Louis County Police officer observed the suspect traveling northbound on Interstate 170 at Page Avenue. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle at northbound I-170 at Natural Bridge.

However, the suspect vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit of the vehicle ensued, according to the release. The pursuit continued eastbound into St. Louis City limits, into Illinois, then back into the city where the pursuit ended.

The suspect was taken into custody by St. Louis Metropolitan Police, where he currently remains. An investigation revealed this suspect is also a suspect in the robbery that took place May 11 at 3901 Lemay Ferry on May 11. Warrant Application of this suspect is pending.

The media’s distribution of the surveillance photographs taken from the South County Kmart and the Crestwood Kohl’s stores was extremely helpful in the identification of the suspects involved, the release stated.
