Local chamber awards three scholarships

The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Cham-ber of Commerce has awarded scholarships to two Lindbergh High School graduates and a graduate of Ursuline Academy.

Christopher P. Schiavo of Lindbergh High School was awarded a $1,500 scholarship toward his goal of becoming a physician. This scholarship was presented in partnership with the Huntington Learning Center of Crestwood. Schiavo has been accepted into the Baccalaureate-Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Sarah Lyn Marshall of Lindbergh High School has been named the first recipient of the Dr. James A. Sandfort Scholarship, established last year in honor of Sandfort’s retirement as Lindbergh School District superintendent. She will attend the University of Tulsa in her pursuit of a degree in elementary education and was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

Patricia Ann Ruzicka of Ursuline Academy was awarded a $1,500 scholarship as she heads to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, in her pursuit of a degree in nutritional science. She graduated No. 1 in her class, and plans to use her studies in nutrition to help families in impoverished countries.
